Hospital comes up with Philips technology to manage critical patient info

Tawam, an Abu Dhabi-based hospital which is affiliated with Johns Hopkins International and Philips Medical Systems has announced today that it successfully implemented one of the advanced Data Management Systems in the world.

Patient data is collected from life support equipment and is centrally stored online using the Philips’ IntelliVue Clinical Information Portfolio CC Clinical Information System, Thereby providing fast access to the staff anywhere in the hospital.

The new solution is currently connected to around 20 beds in the Intensive Care Unit of the hospital. It includes Philips Clinical Decision Support, an application which can identify the symptoms of sepsis and then provide defense against it. The system was live at the end of August. It is collaboration between Philips Medical Systems and Tawam.

The system is user friendly and very efficient. The Chairman of the Department of Critical care Medicine at Tawam hospital said that it had a positive result on how they treated the patients.

Diederik Zeven, General Manager for Philips Medical Systems Middle East said ‘Philips is the only clinical systems solution provider that is able to cover the ‘continuum of care’ for critical documentation in Intensive Care and Anesthesia in one platform.’

The hospital has planned to expand IntelliVue Clinical Information Portfolio installation thereby covering the High Dependency Unit and its pediatric and neonatal Intensive Care Units. The system will link to the Hospital Information System which is currently being planned for the hospital.  Clinical Information System supports the monitoring requirements set by the Joint Commission International Hospital Accreditation, which is the biggest  accreditor of healthcare organizations in the United States.
