Product Review - Malware Destroyer

Malware Destroyer Malware has become a menace, where some people always get rid of it, and on the other hand there is this folk who loves being with it. When new Malware software hits the market, it’s like a relief for the users and they breathe fresh air after a long gap. 2 days ago, I came across a malware software and out of curiosity, I downloaded the trial version to check it out. In this article, I want to share my thoughts on this software.

This software takes only 10 seconds to scan the whole computer for over 7900 targeting definitions. Malware Destroyer supports most types of malwares like trojans, adware worms, dialers and spywares.

Malware Destroyer is from EMCO Software which performs quick scan looking for over 7600 adwares, Trojans etc. The best of all what I found was, the software can be managed by any person whether be it a newbie or knowledgeable. Scanning is amazingly fast. About the interface, well not too good, but not bad. It is pretty simple. What about the price?

This is one such software which money cannot buy as it comes to you at no cost.

When searching through the database, it performs search for only one type of Malware. Now once the scan is complete, a list of malicious items will be displayed by the application. What I found was, after scanning my system with Malware Destroyer I took a second scan with Spybot- Scan and Destroy and found that it detected some problems such as tracking cookies, but this was not detected by Malware Destroyer because it did not provide one.

There is a Quarantine window which offers the possibility of restoring items which Malware Destroyer detects as harmful. Restoring can be done only for items that are selected or for all the quarantine detections.

Now coming to settings, the software comes with lots of settings. The settings are flexible which lets you configure the basic scanning and adds more areas in the registry to search for Malwares. Scanning is of 3 types. File Level, registry level and both.

The software provides P2P scan which is a good feature. Tools provide users with the possibility of exporting scan results, startup programs and history file in three formats: Excel, XML and HTML.

The pros are that the software’s which are free are always a plus point. Secondly, easy and simple to use. The software’s signature list contains about 40,000 entries and listed names are pretty known.

The only negative points I made out here was, Malware Destroyer doesn’t track cookies and the software doesn’t ignore the threats that are already in Quarantine.
