World’s slimmest mobile phone?

The unique Smart Surface Mounting Technology from Samsung squeezes features within a slim form. The U600 phone from Samsung comes with a thinness of 10.9 mm, with a 3.3 mega-pixel camera for ultra sharp images. The U600 mobile phone from Samsung is the replacement for Samsung D900 and is the first of second generation Ultra phones to hit the market, thereby also making it the slimmest phone available.

The U600 phone from Samsung is 10g lighter than D900, and it never gives you a feel of carrying a phone in your pocket. It has an in-built music player which can create a play list of up to 30 songs. The player supports wider range of formats-MP3, ACC, ACC+ and more and has an excellent sound quality. It comes with a stereo headset. There is video camera for sharp resolution recording with sound. The phone has a 2.2 inch 262K color QVGA TFT screen. U600 comes with an internal memory of 60 MB and contains a memory slot to meet memory needs. 2GB is the maximum memory support on U600.

Messaging on U600 is a different touch and it contains features like e-mail and document viewer for viewing MS Office, HTML and PDF files. The EDGE connection that is available is good for fast downloads. The phone also supports Bluetooth connectivity which can be used for adding songs or applications, also USB cable is provided with the package. Battery power is 4 hour in talk time and about 270 hours in standby mode. The phone has a FM radio. Quiet cool, U600 has a feature where you can connect the device to your TV using a TV connector, so that you can watch your videos and pictures in your TV. Other features are self timer, 44 fun frames, macro setting, six color effects, exposure metering, an adjustable ISO etc.

When compared to D900, the battery looks less powerful, but Samsung claims that it has improved battery performance using a new technology called OPUS (Optimized Power Usage Solution). Unlike the trapezoidal navigation toggle in earlier Samsung handsets, U600 comes with a circular four way control. The keypad buttons are exposed when the slider is up and there is enough distance between top row of keys and the boom of the slider. The design is brilliant.
